How To: Self Care

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of the world and although we never fail at taking care of our to-do lists, the one thing we all seem to fall short on is taking care of ourselves. After living in and out of lockdowns for the past two years, the importance of taking some time every day to really practice some self-care as we adjust back to our busy schedules and social lives, has never been so clear.
For those of you that don't know, Self-Care simply means taking the time to do things that help you live as the best version of yourself while improving both your physical and mental health.
So, this is your reminder to pause for a moment and reflect on the importance of YOU.
Self-Care For The Mind
If you take only one thing away from reading this blog today, let it be this.. Put your mental wellbeing at the top of your priority list. But don’t worry, this doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as it might sound.
Mental Self-Care can be as simple as taking a minute to take some deep breaths throughout the day. Others may like to do an evening meditation, read a few pages of that book you keep saying you’ll get back to or even turn your phone off for some notification free time.
Self-Care For The Body
Exercise is beneficial for both our physical and emotional well-being, and the research backs it up. When you exercise, your body produces endorphins or ‘feel good’ chemicals, which are hormones that help to relieve pain and stress and help to improve your overall mood. So, if you’re ever feeling down, just remember that that dreaded workout could be just the thing you need to help lift you back up!
There are so many fun ways to implement exercise into your routine, some of the Sculpted Team’s personal favourites are running, swimming, cycling, walking, gardening, and dancing. One thing the Sculpted team have in common is that they each like to bring our Hydrate & Hold spray mist along with them, as a refreshing exercise essential. A simple spritz of Hydrate & Hold all over the skin, boosts hydration, controls oil build up and refreshes the skin after a workout, so take a moment to really breathe in that citrus goodness and enjoy a little drink for your skin.
Massage is another self care activity we are quite fond of. Also known to produce endorphins, massage helps keep your body fully functional and your mind clear. If there’s no time in your schedule to visit a massage therapist, try spending an extra couple of minutes on your skincare routine every evening to really work in your skincare products, massaging your serums and moisturisers into the skin so it feels like a proper treat.
Self-Care Within Your Space
Your environment can play a vital role in how you think and how you feel. Taking the time to cleanse your space creates an environment that feels restorative, restful, and peaceful - what more could we ask for? Using soft textures in your home can help you relax, bring a cosy feel and promote wellbeing. Cushions, throws, rugs and candles all create a soft vibe and can really help you unwind.
Self-Care Within Your Social Life
Our schedules are full again and life is looking pretty busy, but it can’t be all work and no play! Try to remember the importance of having fun! Make plans with friends and family for wholesome connections and to really laugh. Having fun can help to reduce stress so make sure to take the time to prioritise your social life too.
Managing your social life can also come in the form of saying no to the things you don’t want to attend or be around, or as we like to call it TJOMO (the joy of missing out)! When we set boundaries, both emotional and physical, we are self-caring. When we say “no, not today”, we are being true to ourselves and honouring the fact that we need to come first on our lists right now. Allow yourself that space.
Self-Care For Your Beauty Routine..
We’re big fans of Skinimalism here at Sculpted, and believe that your skincare routine should be relaxing and uncomplicated. A pamper evening with your favourite skincare is a great way to feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Not sure how to go about it? That’s where we come in…
Start with Fresh Faced makeup remover to cleanse the day away - it gently removes excess oils & makeup and cares for your skin with Niacinamide & Vitamin E.
Nothing says pamper night more than a sheet mask - our Hydration Heroes Sheet Masks are hydrating and leave the skin feeling quenched and dewy. Simply apply the sheet mask, pop on some Netflix or a podcast and take those 15 - 20 minutes to just sit back and relax.
Give your skin some extra love and attention with our silky smooth HydraGlo serum - which will help to soothe both your skin and mind. This nourishing serum not only feels indulgent as you massage it into your skin, but it also delivers deep hydration with Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides and Niacinamide.
Complete your pamper evening with our multi use Beauty Balm, designed to add hydration to the lips, cuticles and anywhere else that needs it.
To Finish
You see, practising self-care doesn’t need to be overwhelming. So let us finish with some self care tips from the Sculpted team to help ease you into your journey:
