Do you know the difference between contouring and strobing? Do you look at a bottle of our Beauty Base primer wondering what it actually does? Well fear not, this week we are here to answer some of your most Googled makeup questions of 2021, because we are always trying to find ways to make your beauty routine easier, quicker and a lot more fun!
For a natural looking makeup look we recommend sticking to cream products, such as our Cream Luxe collection and our Second Skin foundation - there’s a reason we call it Second Skin! Our award winning foundation comes in both a dewy finish and a matte finish depending on your skin type and preference. And our Cream Luxe collection comes in a range of shades and colours to suit every makeup mood.
For those who don’t know, contouring is the way you place your bronzer and highlighter to naturally accentuate your bone structure, giving a more defined look. Done wrong, it can look like a muddy disaster; however, done right, you will look like a bronzed goddess who just stepped out of the golden sun. Firstly, with your bronzer - we recommend our Cream Luxe Bronzer in either Light/Medium or Medium/Dark - follow the natural hollow under your cheekbones from the middle of your cheek to your hairline. Use a small amount of bronzer and build up as required. Make sure to blend it up and out towards your hairline. Also add a small amount of bronzer to your temples, again, blending into your hairline. The key is to keep it soft, build it up and leave no harsh lines. This then leaves your highlighter, which adds further dimension to your face. We love to use our Liquid Lights Highlight in Gilded Glow or Pink Champagne. Add a small dab (a little goes a long way) to the tops of your cheekbones, where the line naturally hits your face, to lift the face and cheekbones. Add a touch to the tip & bridge of the nose also, along with the cupid’s bow. Voila! That is your Sculpted guide to contouring 101.
A primer is a base which you put on after your moisturiser and before your foundation. It acts as a fixing agent that helps keep your makeup in place all day. Our illuminating Beauty Base primer also has many added benefits such as SPF 30 to protect your skin from ultraviolet rays, hyaluronic acid to hydrate & add further moisture and peptides to keep your skin plump and nourished. Different primers give different looks, with our Beauty Base Pearl giving a more pearlescent glow to the skin compared to the golden glow left by our Beauty Base Original.
When washing makeup brushes make sure to use a specific makeup brush cleanser such as Ella and Jo’s Brush Cleansing spray or If you can’t find a specific brush cleanser, you can also use a small amount of baby shampoo instead. When washing your makeup brushes, if using baby shampoo, swirl the brush in your hand with some shampoo, then rinse clean with warm water and watch as the makeup disappears from the brush. Just make sure not to let the water run past the part of the brush the hairs are coming from, this is where the glue is and if the water is too hot, it can melt the glue and cause your brush to fall apart! To dry, lay the brushes out on a towel and let them air dry.
- How can you fix make-up that’s become cake-y?
It’s as easy as a spritz of Hydrate & Hold. Simply spritz Hydrate & Hold onto your face throughout the day to keep your makeup hydrated and dewy. This hydration mist also works to control oil build up on the skin, keeping you glowing in only the right place and when sprayed after makeup, acts as a setting spray to gold everything in place. It also has centella asiatica extract to strengthen the skin’s natural barriers against ageing and everyday damages. P.S- it also smells great!
The perfect way to apply lipstick requires a little more effort than simply putting it on straight from the tube, but don’t worry; here at Sculpted we are always finding ways to make looking gorgeous so much easier! Firstly, make sure to moisturise your lips using our nourishing Beauty Balm - apply a little to your lips to create a moisturised base to put your lipstick onto. Next, grab your favourite Lip Duo, which has a lipstick and liner all in one, and line your lips with the lip liner. Follow the natural shape of your lips, or even fill all of your lips in with the liner for a fuller looking finish. Then apply the lipstick on the other end of the Lip Duo to create a creamy pout.
We all hear the beauty buzzwords that circle around Instagram and magazines, but what really is niacinamide? It is the tried and tested pore minimising ingredient which reduces oiliness and texture and brightens the skin. We added it into our famous Tint & Glow skin enhancer to ensure you are looking gorgeously glowy but never slippy or oily. This mineral base product also contains a broad spectrum SPF30 to protect against blue light from our everyday use of technology.
Finally, we are onto our last makeup question of 2021. To apply concealer we prefer to use two different concealers - a strong coverage concealer for any blemishes, redness or pigmentation and a lighter, brightening concealer for under the eyes. Our Complete Cover Up concealer is perfect to use under your Second Skin foundation to conceal or over your foundation to add more coverage. We then use our Brighten Up concealer over our Second Skin foundation to cover up any dark undereye circles as the lighter liquid formula is designed specifically for the delicate skin around your eyes. While we recommend using the complete cover up concealer in a tone similar to your foundation, you can go one shade lighter in your undereye concealer as this brightens the eyes so they appear fresh and awake - our Brighten Up concealer covers a multitude of sins!
The best multitasking makeup product has to be cream products; specifically our Cream Luxe Blushes. Coming in our gorgeous Pink Supreme and our fresh Peach Pop, these compact blushes are as versatile as they come. Pop a bit on the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow, or use your finger or an eyeshadow brush to apply it to your eyes for a pop of colour. Why not use it on your lips as well for a fully tonal makeup look?
