Lip Duo Love!

It’s finally Winter and so that means darker evenings, oversized knit jumpers, pumpkin spiced lattes and cozy nights in are only some of the things to look forward to. It’s also the time of year where we can look forward to changing up our skincare and makeup routines. 

We have just launched two brand new Lip Duos ‘Very Berry’ and ‘Ruby Rouge’, which are the perfect shades to add to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe! 

Very Berry is a softer version of burgundy with just the right amount of berry-ness. It’s highly pigmented and having both a lipstick and liner in the one component makes it super travel friendly. It can be easily thrown into your handbag for a quick touch up throughout the day. Thanks to the slightly deeper lip liner, like most of our lip duos, you can build on the berry-ness to suit you. 

Choose to wear Very Berry on its own as a statement, paired with clean, glowing skin and lots of mascara or dress up the face and eyes using our Full Face Edit palette to opt for a smokier, more festive look.  

Also new to our Sculpted line up is Ruby Rouge, a beautiful deep rich red which gives that perfect classic red lip. 

It does take some adjustment wearing a statement lip if you usually reach for nudes, but if you can’t try a bolder lip at this time of year then when can you? 

The power in a classic red lip is that you don’t need to do too much else to your makeup. We suggest keeping the skin fresh, glowing and healthy with our mineral foundation Second Skin, then adding a light sweep of bronzer and blush to shape the face. For that ultimate ‘French chic’ vibe, keep the eyes clean with just mascara, but If you do want to make even more of a statement, try adding a winged liner and live out your vintage Hollywood dreams. 

Application tips: 

Firstly you want to ensure your lips are prepped by eliminating any dryness or flakiness. For this, we recommend a sugar based lip scrub like the MAC Lip Scrubtious. It buffs away any dead skin leaving your lips smooth and plump. 

Bolder lip colours mean you can’t skip out on the liner part, perfect your shape and line the lips to your desired fullness before adding the lipstick. We recommend starting at the cupids bow and then joining the corners. The centre of the lips is where they should look the fullest. 

Next, flip your lip duo around and apply the creamy lipstick. You can use a brush to apply if you prefer, but our lip duos are designed to make life that little bit easier for you. 

And lastly, clean up any edges. Unlike a nude lip, it can be very obvious if a statement lip is applied messily, take a flat brush like the flat side of our concealer duo brush and clean up any unevenness with Complete Cover Up concealer. Just make sure the concealer matches your foundation colour so that everything blends seamlessly and looks as natural as possible. 

While we are not suggesting you ditch your mask, as they are such an important part of our new normal and we all need to do our part in keeping each other safe, we do suggest you whip out your bolder lip colours for your next zoom meeting or living room date and when you do, wear it with so much confidence because confidence really is the biggest statement you can make.
