Most Popular Blush Trends for Summer and How to Achieve Them Using Liquid Lights

Blusher is back… and in a big way. The original makeup essential may have fallen to the bottom of your makeup bags in the 2010s when we were obsessed with looking bronzed and contoured, but it’s now beloved by MUAs and beauty beginners alike. This decade has seen blush blow up like never before with new looks popping up everywhere, from the runways of Fashion Week to our For You feeds on TikTok.

Zooming into summer 2024, it’s all about creating that golden hour glow with looks like Sunkissed Blush and Sunset blush taking over the internet. And, as luck would have it, we’ve just launched a brand new collection of Liquid Lights which includes nine fluid shades of glow-giving blush, bronze, and highlight.

So, we’re here to show you how to recreate the most popular blush trends of the summer with our new dewy-finish liquid blushers. Keep scrolling…

Liquid blush is this season’s makeup must-have

From vibrant hues to innovative placement, blush is this season’s secret weapon for achieving that fresh-faced, coveted glow. Stealing the spotlight this summer is liquid blush, which is no doubt on everybody’s beauty wishlist.

These lightweight, beautifully blendable formulas are taking over TikTok thanks to their seamless application and dewy finish. Just a small amount delivers a gorgeous flush of colour, making them perfect for both beginners and pros alike.

Cue Liquid Lights, Sculpted’s brand new collection of fluid formulas that leave your skin looking naturally blushed and effortlessly sculpted with a sun-kissed finish.

Three blush trends for summer

Unless you’ve been living in a beauty-proof bunker, you’ve probably noticed a boom in blush trends that feature stunning shade combinations and creative application techniques.

The standouts of the season are certainly Sunset Blush – an ombre blend of blusher and highlighter applied high onto the cheekbones – and Burnt Blush or, as we like to call it, Sunkissed Blush. Think rosy tones buffed across the cheeks and nose in a ‘W’ shape to mimic the look of sun-soaked skin.

NOTE: Remember, actual sunburn is incredibly harmful to your skin. Wear a broad spectrum, high-factor SPF to protect your skin and use your makeup to add colour instead.

We’re going to show you how to create these three looks for summer using our new Liquid Lights formulas. Plus, we’ll also reveal how to recreate Aimee’s Signature Sculpt – our go-to look for a lifted, glowing, perfectly blended finish that’s perfect for all seasons.

Trend 1: Sunset Blush

Dubbed by Sculpted CEO and Founder Aimee Connoly as, “the makeup look everyone needs to wear this summer,” Sunset Blush has become a go-to for all of us at Sculpted HQ when heading out for dinner and drinks after work. This warm, ultra-flattering look is like golden hour on your cheeks, and we’re obsessed with the finish.

How to Get the Look:

  1. Apply a few dots of Liquid Lights Blush in the shade Real Rosy to the apples of your cheeks.
  2. Next, apply a few dots of the shade Peachy Keen on your cheekbones. The idea is to create an ombre effect from Real Rosy into Peachy Keen as you move up the cheek.
  3. Blend the two together using the compact side of our Perfecting Duo Brush. Use upward, outward strokes for a lifting effect.
AIMEE’S TOP TIP: Take whatever product is left on your brush and angle it into the outer corner of your eyes for a flattering finish.
  4. Formulated with soft pearl pigments, these blushers leave skin looking perfectly dewy, but you can add a couple of dots of Liquid Lights Highlighter to the cheekbones and brow bone for an extra pop of glow. For this look, we’d recommend the shade Golden Glow.

Trend 2: Sunkissed blush

Also known as Burnt Blush, Sunkissed Blush is 2024’s answer to “Strawberry Girl” makeup. Slightly more pared back, this look focusses the flush onto the cheeks and nose while keeping the eyes and lips light and natural.

And although ‘Burnt Blush’ may sound a little scary, we can assure you no skin was harmed in the making of this look. In fact, we always recommend wearing a broad spectrum, high-factor SPF whatever the weather to protect your skin against sun damage.

This is just an effortless way to achieve a healthy, sunkissed finish without the harmful effects of actual sun exposure. It's perfect for creating that just-back-from-the-beach vibe.

How to Get the Look:

  1. Warm up your skin by blending your shade of Liquid Lights Bronzer into the hollows of your cheekbones and your hairline.
  2. Add a touch of glow by buffing a little of your favourite Liquid Lights Highlighter onto the tips of your cheekbones and brow bone.
  3. Finish with Liquid Lights Blush in Real Rosy. Dot onto the high points of your face where you’d naturally catch the sun. Our go-to placement for this look is two dots on each cheekbone and two dots on the bridge of your nose. Buff and blend this out across your cheeks and nose for a sunkissed finish.

Trend 3: Signature Sculpt

This is Aimee’s go-to Liquid Lights look. Think soft, dewy, lifted skin with just the right amount of definition and glow. While Sunkissed Blush and Sunset Blush might fade with the season, you can rely on the Signature Sculpt to look good whatever the weather.

How to Get the Look:

  1. Apply three dots of bronzer into the hollows of your cheek and around your hairline, and two dots to the sides of your nose.
  2. Dot highlighter onto the tips of your cheekbones, brow bone and the inner corner or your eyes.
  3. Then, apply three dots of blusher onto the apples of your cheeks.
  4. Buff everything into your skin using the compact side of our Perfecting Duo Brush. Use upward, outward strokes for a lifted, softly sculpted finish.
